On May 18th the US Navy Sea Cadets came to Del Rey Yacht Club (DRYC) to learn “Seamanship” and experience on the ocean. Del Rey Yacht Club member Chris Cassidy was in charge on this mission and these great kids were at the club.

Their day on the 18th began with physical training on DRYC grounds then off to meet with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary in the PV room to have a class on seamanship. After a hardy lunch at DRYC they were off to have their ocean experience.

We thank the following members of DRYC for their hospitality in bringing these cadets (along with chaperones) onto their boats and out to sea. There were 35 Cadets and they were allocated to the following DRYC members boats:

Harlan Holmes

Rick Cronin

Ron Jacobs

Chris Cassidy

Mike Rosenfeld

Mike Sudo

Steve Sache

Stacy Sinclair

The Cadets had a great “hands on” experience. Naturally, the Santa Monica Bay Sailing Foundation was providing financial support to be sure this experience for the cadets was a success.
