The Santa Monica Bay
Sailing Foundation was established in 1990 to provide support
for youth and adult sailing programs. The Foundation also
offers funding for sailing and watersports programs for at-risk
youth, providing opportunities for young people who might
otherwise be unable to enjoy these activities.
Foundation grants provide the equipment
and instructors needed to promote, teach, and encourage safe
and skilled boating in the recreational and competitive environments.
Many of the finest young sailors who call the Santa Monica
Bay home received support from the SMBSF.
Thanks to generous donors and
affiliated yacht clubs, Foundation-supported programs instill
self-confidence, independence and maturity in young people
who might otherwise not have the opportunity to participate
in character-building watersport activities.
